Ann Curry
Ann Curry has worked as an journalist for over nearly 45 years. Her focus is on natural disasters and areas of war. Curry has covered the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and TV news reporter and anchor who was best known for her role as a correspondent on the Today show a morning news program aired by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry's work was noted for its coverage of humanitarian crises occurring in war-torn nations as well as natural catastrophes. Curry's Japanese-American mother and U.S. Navy-sailor father both played a prominent role in Curry's life. She met her mother while living with their father during Japan following World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family has moved around quite a bit. Curry graduated from high school at Ashland Oregon. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism in 1978. When she was a young woman she had the privilege of being exposed to many different cultures. Curry's family relocated often and Curry didn't stay at one school more than two year. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland was the school where Curry earned her diploma. In Medford, she started her career in broadcasting at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. At the age 22 she was the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting for KGW the NBC affiliate station located in Portland. She moved back in Los Angeles four years later to work as a reporter for KCBS TV. Through the six years she worked for KCBS the station, she won the two Emmy Awards.
